Fassika joins ACB as Policy and Advocacy Advisor.
Fassika Alemayehu a native Ethiopian,has served as a Policy and Advocacy Advisor at the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) Liaison Office to the African Union & UNECA. She was the focal person for IPPF’s advocacy work on the development and implementation of progressive Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) policies in the African Union spaces. She has served in technical working groups of the Campaign to End Child Marriage in Africa and the Campaign for Accelerated Reduction of Maternal Mortality in Africa(CARMMA); she also played a key role in the coordination of Civil Society Organizations regional reviews of policy documents/instruments related to Population and Development.
Prior to IPPF, she served as the Program Officer in the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) formerly called the Organization of African First Ladies against HIV/AIDS (OAFLA). In her capacity of Program Officer,she principally established and managed partnerships including with the Global Fund, UN agencies, the private sector and Governments, mobilized resources for OAFLA and provided assistance/monitored the implementation of offices of First Ladies programs in line with the OAFLA strategic direction. She has also worked in the She has in general 13 years’ experience in multilateral diplomacy, external relations, advocacy, policy analysis & program management.
Fassikahas a BA in Economic and Social Administration and a Masters in Political Science/international Relations from the University of Toulouse and l’Institut des Relations Internationales et Strategiques (IRIS) in France .
